David Olayinka T. Oluwatimehin, FNSChE

Group Chief Executive Officer

David Olayinka T. Oluwatimehin earned a bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Lagos. He had a few stints of work experience as a practicing Chemical Engineer earlier on in his career, later focusing on the Business Development and the Commercial side of the Oil and Gas business, establishing himself as a consummate Business Development Engineer, a role that comes naturally to him. Yinka worked with a few companies in business development functions, some of which include DSV Pipetronix and Pabec-Energy Support Services before moving on to establish Amazon Energy Limited in October 1999, making a big bold step towards realizing a childhood vision of developing a world-class oil and gas company.

Olayinka has led the growth of the company from humble beginnings into a full-fledged Integrated Energy Services provider with interests in Downstream Trading and Shipping, which presently operates offices in Lagos, Port Harcourt, Abuja (all in Nigeria) and Houston (USA), the group’s Resource and Technology Centre (RTC). Described as focused, passionate and decisive by elders, peers and competitors alike, Olayinka continues to pursue the vision of growing Amazon Energy into an African Champion with local operating offices in markets across West & Central Africa (WCA). The company has since metamorphosed into a group of companies with operating entities carrying on business across the oil, gas & power spectrum; he serves as the Group’s Chief Executive, providing leadership and strategic direction for the Company.

Olayinka has attended various management courses including the Owner Manager Program (OMP) at the Lagos Business School (an IESE Spain Affiliate university) and several other short professional courses at home and abroad. He is a member of the board of trustees of the Oil and Gas Engineers of Nigeria (OGDEN) and also recently served as a member of the Board of Regents, (the Governing Council) of the leading Private University in Nigeria, Covenant University. He serves as a Non-Executive Director on the Board of various companies including E-Tranzact International Plc. (an electronic payment and switching platform), Phyllis Brown Offshore Services Ltd. (an oil service company), and Rehoboth Properties Ltd. (a property development company) amongst several others. Olayinka is a fellow of the Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers (NSChE) an award bestowed on him in 2013 in recognition of his contribution to the Chemical Engineering profession and the Nigerian Engineering Industry in general, being the youngest of his peers to have been so honored. He is a member of the Insight Club of his native Ondo land, a Socio-Philanthropic, Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) of his kindred and peers focused on the socio-economic development of the ancient town.
